Orthopedic Design & Technology named Kinomatic one of six emerging orthopedic companies flying under the radar in its 2026 Top Companies issue.
The list runs alongside ODT’s ranking of the industry’s largest revenue producers. Each year the editors set aside space for smaller companies whose work caught their attention, and this year Associate Editor Sam Brusco wrote the Kinomatic section.
Brusco traces the company back to 2021, and to founder Shaun Lea’s years in surgery center development, where he watched joint replacement run on generic plans and a recovery phase patients navigate largely on their own. The piece walks through how a patient’s CT scan becomes a 3D joint model, how surgeons rehearse the case in virtual reality before they operate, and how the platform narrows more than 30,000 possible implant configurations down to one.
It also covers the $4 million seed round Kinomatic closed in June and the RESTORE pilot launched in July with WHOOP, which pairs continuous biometric data with concierge recovery support in the weeks after surgery.
Kinomatic shares the list with NeuroLife, Pacira BioSciences, metamorphosis GmbH, Bone Solutions, and Atreon Orthopedics.
